TaeKwonDo : Malaysia to compete in taekwondo again in the Asian Games

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will have a representative in Asian Games taekwondo again after missing out on the previous edition in Doha four years ago.

Five exponents have received the nod to go under the recently–formed Taekwondo Malaysia banner to take part in the Guangzhou Asian Games from Nov 12-27.

The five who are currently under the national elite squad based at Bukit Jalil are Beijing Olympian Elaine Teo (women’s flyweight), Nurul Nadia Mahamat (women’s bantamweight), Mohd Afifuddin Omar Sidek (men’s featherweight), Rusfredy Petrus (men’s flyweight) and Ryan Chong (men’s bantamweight).

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) -- The newly formed Taekwondo Malaysia's (TM) Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday is expected to end an internal crisis in the former Malaysian Taekwondo Association (MTA) that had prolonged since 2005.

Sports Commissioner Datuk Nik Mahmud Nik Yusuf hoped the AGM would go on smoothly, paving the way for TM to start functioning as the governing body for taekwondo, in the country.

We did it: The Kulim taekwondo athletes striking a pose after winning the Tuanku Sultan Mizan Challenge Trophy.

KEDAH B team have successfully retained their top placing for the seventh time in the Malaysian Global Taekwondo Federation (MGTF) national tournament in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Their 22 exponents defeated participants from 16 other teams at the tournament held recently.

Tae Kwon Do is known as the kicking art. There are various styles of martial arts. Some are considered SOFT arts such as Hapkido, because of their emphasis on joint cranks and less striking. They are supposed to be more gentle on the opponent while still being effective. Tae Kwon Do is one of the HARD arts, because it emphasizes hard powerful punches and advanced use of the feet. Of all the martial arts, Tae kwon do is known as the Korean kicking art, because of its strong emphasis on kicking. Many martial arts include kicking but the greater emphasis is placed upon hand techniques. TKD has a strong emphasis on hand techniques, such as punching with different parts of the hand, backfist, ridgehand, fingers, palm strike, hammerfist, as well as blocking techniques and grabbing.

TaeKwonDo : Use of DAEDO TK-STRIKE at the 2010 Korea Open Confirmed

DAEDO PSS TK-STRIKE will be used at the 2010 Korean Open International Taekwondo Competition (Korea Open). This decision was made by the technical committee of the Korean Taekwondo Association at a meeting held on the 23rd of July.
