VIENTIANE (KPL) - The National University of Laos (NUOL) will receive the host flag for the Asean University Games in 2012 at the same name competition event held in Chiang Mai, Thailand at the end of this year.

The 6th Asean University Sports Council (AUSC) Coordination Meeting was held at in Vientiane on 24 February. Present at the meeting included NUOL Vice President and Chairman of the 16th Asean University Games, Prof. Dr. Somsy Gnophanxay, AUSC Chairman, Prof. Omar Osman, and officials from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

H.E. Ahmed Juma Al Hosani, Member of the UAE Wrestling, Judo ’&’ Jiu Jitsu Federation, reviewed with Mr. Marius L. Vizer, President of International Judo Federation in Paris details of the UAE electronic project regarding the design of modern Judo game which will be played on the Internet.

Che Chew Chan shows her gold medal after winning the 73kg category in Laos SEA Games.


KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) -- Malaysia's sole gold-medallist in taekwondo at the Laos SEA Games, Che Chew Chan is the country's first choice for the Guangzhou Asian Games in November.

National coach R. Dhanaraj said besides Chew Chan, silver-medallist Elaine Teo might booked a berth based on her national ranking.

SERDANG(Bernama) -- Undergraduate athletes representing the country in international meets will be allowed to defer their studies, said Higher Education Minister Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

He said they would not only be provided with sports facilities but would also earn credit points in co-curriculum.

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) -- The National Silat Association (Pesaka) is confident of winning seven gold medals at the World Silat Championship in Singapore in November.

Pesaka coordinator Osman Nok said the target was realistic based on current performance.
