IN conjunction with the visit to Malaysia by the global head of Yoshinkan Aikido, Soke Yasuhisa Shioda Kancho, Yoshinkan Aikido Malaysia (YAM) will demonstrate its commitment to the health, wealth and well-being of fellow citizens by championing the Aikido spirit of harmony and discipline.

Advertisment

It will launch YAM’s Safety Awareness Campaign 2008 on Saturday at 3pm at the LG2 Blue Atrium Entrance, Sunway Pyramid.

Through this project, YAM will be organising self-defence workshops throughout the Klang Valley to create awareness on the importance of acquiring the self-defence skills to protect oneself.

These workshops will involve instruction and training of women, children, youths and the elderly.

The objective of the workshops is to empower and prepare the participants to fend for themselves and also survive an initial attack.

As proof of YAM’s unwavering commitment to public safety and well-being, all workshops will be supervised by YAM’s chief instructor, Sonny Loke Sensei.

The workshop is worth RM100 per person but YAM will be charging a nominal fee of RM10 as part of its social responsibility initiative.

Participants will also have the opportunity to join Kung Hai Yuan, the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year 2008, for the self-defence workshop and to practise basic self-defence techniques.

Participants can register at Sunway Pyramid on the day of the event from noon onwards.

To register early, call Hoei at 016-321 8618 or Janise at 012-628 3230 or alternatively visit www.yoshinkan-aikido.com.my
