      <description>&lt;img src=&quot;http://martialarts.com.my/community/uploads/img4c43c288634aa.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;READY FOR ACTION: The young wushu exponents with coach Ling Ung Hee (right) after a training session at the WFS building at Tabuan Laru Friday night.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;KUCHING: Wushu Association of Sarawak (WAS) is now known as the Wushu Lion and Dragon Dance Federation of Sarawak (WFS).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;WFS secretary James Ting said yesterday that the association had submitted the application for the change of name to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) last year following the directive from the national body, namely Wushu Federation of Malaysia.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ROS approved the application recently and with the new name, any lion dance or dragon dance troupe in the state can only represent the state under the WFS banner and represent Malaysia under the WFM banner, he said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ting said the move was to dispel the confusion created in the past by different organisations taking part in international competitions claiming that they all represented Malaysia.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;According to him, teams not competing under the two bodies and its affiliates are not recognised or sanctioned by the Olympic Council of Malaysia.&lt;br /&gt;Meanwhile, Ting, who is also WFS chief coach, said the association would be sending 100 young wushu exponents to take part in a martial arts demonstration at either the State Hockey Stadium or Jubilee Ground on August 7.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These exponents are selected from primary one to six classes of Chung Hua Primary School No 4, 5 and 6, he said, adding that they comprise of Chinese, Ibans, Bidayuh and Malays.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The demonstration, which is part of the events organised for the Kuching Festival this year, will also see performances from silat, taekwondo exponents as well as practitioners of the Kuching Taiji Qigung Shubashi.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.theborneopost.com/?p=49810&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;The Borneo Post&lt;/a&gt;</description>
